Israel’s Unity
In our trip to Israel in the beginning of January, we went to David’s City, in fact, in the ruins of his palace, where he finally rested after so many years suffering with persecution from king Saul. The view is beautiful, has a valley on its side, where many of his soldiers lived.
I don’t know why but every time I read about David’s history I picture a family of men who got united for the same objective, to fight for Israel. The Bible tells us about ‘David’s great military chiefs’, men who would give their lives for him. And among them, there were three even mightier: “These are the names of the mighty men whom David had: Josheb-Basshbeth the Tachmonite, chief among the captains. He was called Adino the Eznite, because he had killed eight hundred men at one time. And after him was Eleazar the son of Dodo, the Ahohite, one of the three mighty men with David when they defied the Philistines who were gathered there for battle, and the men of Israel had retreated. He arose and attacked the Philistines until his hand was weary, and his hand stuck to the sword. The Lord brought about a great victory that day; and the people returned after him only to plunder. And after him was Shammah the son of Agee the Hararite. The Philistines had gathered together into a troop where there was a piece of ground full of lentils. So the people fled from the Philistines. But he stationed himself in the middle of the field, defended it, and killed the Philistines. So the Lord brought about a great victory. 2 Samuel 23:8 – 12
These men for sure witnessed David’s weaknesses, they knew him as no one else did, and even though, they fought for him. I believe when we have an objective, the flaws and little mistakes we make due to our human nature are not enough to overcloud them. These three mighty men and David’s other servants were not like this because of him but because of his objectives. That’s why Israel was what it was at David’s time. There’s no way for a kingdom to grow without this unity. Until today we see this unity in Israel, it’s indeed something amazing. That’s why they are a strong and courageous nation, be the world against them or not.
Thank God for the unity we have in the UCKG all over the world as well! For this unity is what has taken us so far. Of course that many who have already left from among us would like to break this unity, and are still trying to do so. Those who don’t have this spirit of unity end up letting themselves be carried away by them…and do you know what happens? They throw away the presence of God with it.
When David decided to leave his army for a while in order to ‘rest’, he fell. But he did not only fall, he took a deep fall! He did something, which I believe, he never thought he would do.
Up to that moment, David had been an example of man and king for all, but unfortunately, there was that window with that beautiful view, and that beautiful married woman taking a bath.
Many who leave this unity is exactly for this reason, because they want to rest. They got tired of the ‘injustices’. Well, if this work is from God, can He make injustice? If He allows certain things to happen, it’s because we need to go through them. Others wanted to rest the faith and preferred to live in sin. In short, do you want to rest? Get ready to have a deep fall up front. David’s story is one of my favorites in the Bible, because instead of letting himself be taken away by the flow of defeat (as we see many out there!) after sinning, he repented and turned back to God. He does not throw anyone away, not even those who disappoint Him.
I can’t wait to watch the new miniseries ‘King David’ on Record TV, starting this Tuesday at 11pm (Brazilian Time)! By the way, I even took a break on my reading of the book of Isaiah just to start reading about David once again.

I also like king David, because of his sincerity. It is also reminding me a time, when i was not sincere to God, even the time that used to came to church. I was deceiving myself by making beautiful word to pleaseGod while my soul was crying for help. And this was a time where the pastor, honestly spoke to me. Saying the secret to make God happy is to be sincere in your prayer.
From that moment, i became honnete, sincere, in a way that i wont try to deceive myself. But i always recognise that i need God.

What I like about David that regadlless of his mistake he did not give up he seek God’s mercy he did not let sin to take over him but instead of giving up he was a real spiritual warrior to fight for his soul against Satan and won the real battle
We do not have to give up regarles the mistakes we make we have to correct them and always seek God’s mercy and the strength from the Hollyspirit to win the battle

what a strong message. I am realizing that when we are losing the Spirit, we start to see flaws in others – having bad eyes and all. The mighty men knew David and dure they knew his mistakes, but they didnt lose focus or rebel against his leadership. No res for me, thank you very much. The battle has to continue…
