‘I love you’, people say that all the time and I’ll be honest with you, I hate it. Yes, I’ll use that ‘hate’ word some people find quite offensive just so you get it. I hate it when people say ‘I love you’ and I’ll tell you why.
Love is not a feeling. It’s an action. When you love, you do something for that person, you add to her life, you change her world… and honestly, that hardly happens, does it? I’ve grown tired of getting ‘I love yous’ just because they liked something I said or did. I think God must feel the same way…
People say they love God all the time, but what are they really doing for Him? Nothing. It’s a feeling, it’s temporary, it’s just another religious way of dealing with God. Most people just want to use Him. Just like most people just want to use you. But there are those very few who truly love God and they show it by loving you for real. They may not be saying ‘I love you’ but they’re showing it all day long.
Learn to recognize these people and don’t just use them, love them back – for real.
Today, I’m inviting you, dear reader, to join me in my new ‘I Love You’ campaign.
For you to be part of it, you need to follow through the above understanding with the following actions:
* Every week, you’ll take at least one day to show someone how much you love him or her in practice. This may be telling that person the truth about herself or himself and being a real friend. It may be that you’ll go out of your way to help him or her in some way.
* Every week, you’ll aim to save a soul. You’ll either talk, call, or email someone about Jesus or just plainly give a flyer or a book that will help that person come closer to Him.
If you’re ready to join me in this campaign, leave a comment here (if you haven’t yet left it in the original post). Soon, I’ll be adding a new section to this blog about this campaign and I want those who are committed to it to be part of it by sharing what they’ve done so far. You can share it with me here.
Let’s change the world, let’s show people what true love is.
